Like most people, I figured when I grew up I'd have to get a regular job down the line to be able to support myself. So, I worked hard in high school and got into a good college, where I majored in math and worked even harder.
Eventually I went to graduate school and within a few years, found myself getting a Ph.D. in mathematical statistics. It wasn't very interesting, but I figured if nothing else it would give me job security.
After graduation I was hired by a major university as an assistant lecturer teaching students on statistics. The pay wasn't great and it was depressing, because I knew that they found taking my classes just as boring as I found teaching them.

You're probably wondering how I started to learn the dark Ninja arts. And even more importantly, how I managed to meet the underground masters.
Like I said, it all began through a friend.
He doesn't want me to use his name, but he's been my friend for a long time. We've done a bunch of stuff together - like surfing, drinking, and parkour... but... he had a past he'd never told me about... until one night, after a few too many beers, he told me something I never would have guessed:
He said, "I don't want you to look at me differently... but... I used to be a criminal."
